As of 8pm on Jan. 12th 2011, thousands of Brisbane residents have already been evacuated, and others are being warned to leave their homes now, as floodwaters rise and the city prepares for a massive peak high tide of five and a half metres, due within hours. The CBD is closed down and a steady stream of debris is floating down the swollen Brisbane River: boats, buildings, pontoons…
The Queensland Government Emergency Management recommended preparing an evacuation kit well in advance. They advised that the kit be stored in an easy to carry, waterproof bag, ready to pick up quickly and go.

- baby nappies/formula, if nec.
