There cannot be a more iconic venue in the world than the Royal Albert Hall. Founded in 1895, a superb tennis court has been laid where only 10 weeks ago the Promenaders stood singing their hearts out at the "Last Night of the Proms."
Since it first opened in 1871 it has hosted more than 350 events every year. Probably the most famous is the eight-week season of Promenade Concerts founded by Sir Henry Wood in 1895. Besides these Championships the Royal Albert Hall used to stage the Wightman Cup, the Ladies equivalent of the Davis Cup, which was played annually between Great Britain and the United States of America before it was scrapped.
AEGON Masters Opening Matches
Opening the 2010 Masters was last year's winner Pat Rafter against 1987 Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash. Rafter, the 37-year-old Australian right-hander has brought his wife Lara and children Josh and India to London for the tournament. They are then travelling on to Lapland for Christmas.
